hi,
when does this error occur? Has it done it always, or did it start out of the blue? Or after an update?

Perhaps this is an ignorable error?
It first happened right after i uploaded the script and began to install. I never noticed it before but I just decided
to procede with the instalation anyway and it seems to be working.
thanks

I have the same problem with older builds of this script. With the latest build, I only got the notice during the
install. Seems to work fine now. Many thanks for a wonderful free script!

thanks alot. I'll have a look at the installer to see what's causing the error.

Just attempted to setup linkex today, getting same error as above. Have chmod set at 777.
downloaded newest version: linkex.20070718.tar.gz
Anything new about a fix or workaround?

michaelgc is it only in the installation or do you get it all the time?

In case it matters, I'm running linkex on a BSD box. Older linkex versions running on ths platform give me the notice,
but seem to work fine. I saw the notice once during installation of the newest linkex version, then never saw it
again.
Best regards,

funny I develop LinkEX on FreeBSD box'es, all my sites a on FBSD and I haven't seen the error in a while. But I'm on it,
trying to figure out what code could possible cause it.

Just in case it help anybody else having the same problem - we found my problem and it's fixed. The LinkEX file is a TAR
compression, and using a program such as WinZip to decompress it corrupts the file. You have to use a decompression
program specifically designed for tar files. I deleted my unzipped file, and uploaded the untarred one, and everything
worked fine. Also, I changed the chmod (per my hosts restrictions) from 777 to 755, and it works fine.
Hope this helps other also.
BTW, the decompression software I used was WinRAR, which is shareware, and offers a 30 day evaluation period.

hm I have been getting a few notices on people having trouble extracting the archive files lately. I'll make sure to add
zip downloads from now on, hopefully this will be better.
