Feature requests » PR for "old links"

added on Nov 14, 2007 by modF
Greetings,
What I'd like to see is an addition setting for PR's. The existing PR system works great, until the site gets a
higher PR. Then you have two options after you increase the minimum PR to match your site. Go and update every one of
your existing trades to Ignore PR or let them be zapped when the links are verified.
There are two ways to go about preventing the changing of the links manually. One method would be to create a Min PR
for New trades, and have that PR attached to the trade upon signup. So when the site goes up in PR, the old links will
still be allowed at the PR they signed up at.

The other option would be just having a New PR and Old PR value. Obviously the new trades would have to meet the
minimum PR value and the existing trades would have to meet the "old value".

I don't think it would be all that much of a pain to do this, and personally think it would be quite helpful to manage.

hey modF,

I have actually run into the same problem with some of my sites. I'd like to raise the min. pagerank, since the site's
pagerank went up, but that would disable a lot of the links.
I have thought about the same things, and was leaning most against attaching the min. pagerank to each link, to have
better control.

It's been a while since I've added features to LinkEX, but this is for sure one of the ones to come soon.

Thanks a lot!

Glad you liked it. :) I actually have a few ideas I've thought of in which usage could grow and help prevent cheaters.
I'm giong to have a busy couple of days, but hit me up on icq sometime and we can chat. 2873411

hi modF,

good news, I have added the pagerank for "old" links.

I'll be hitting you up on ICQ any day soon, I'm pretty interested in hearing your ideas!
