Feature requests » Show where the links are displayed when submitting

added on May 11, 2009 by jim
It would be proper to show people a link to the page where their link should show up after a successful submit.

Same on the auto submit too.

And WHY do people have to submit a e-mail anyway? Can't we just be happy that I put your link on my site FIRST, then you
check it and it's there and thus confirm the whole thing?

E-mail should be optional.

And also, it's a pain to post here, capcha could be one simple 3 letter word and rotate it with like 5 different words
and you would stop 99.9% of all bots, you don't have enough traffic here, and cookies required? Then the cookies don't
remember my info so I have to put it all in again? FORGET THAT!! Make it hard to post and get less contributions. You
went overboard dude, I'm just saying.... Keep it simple.

Hi Jim,

Nice idea, I'll make the email inut optional! Right now it's not being used for anything anyway.

Hehe is it really that hard to read the captcha?
Right now it prevents 100% of the bots. Using rotated words it way to easy to brute force, so that is not a good option
for me.
Cookies should not be required, as the CAPTCHA info is sotred in the session, and php _should_ add the session variable
to the URLs if cookies are not enabled.

Optional e-mail on linkex, that's great. I don't know if its going to cause some trouble while everyone upgrades or not
so you might want to think about that.

Yes, I had to turn cookies on or else the captcha would always fail, Javascript is on, I don't remember if I had to do
that or just did it to get my posts in. It's probably easier for you to do the testing on your end though.

Any captcha, even a simple one word one that never changes will stop 99% of those bastards because #1 your forum isn't
big enough to be worth it, #2 those idiots are lazy and never check, #3 they just run the automated script someone sold
them and have no clue, #4 this isn't google or yahoo groups.

The fact you added another "text box" that's checked screws up their lame scripts and seems to throw a wrench
in the works.

It's not that it's hard to read, it's just annoying and could be a simple standard submit, no cookies, no javascript. I
like simple.

Oh, and in case I wasn't clear about the first part, I was talking about the screen you get after you successfully
submit, it should show you a clickable link that is the page where all the links are listed for that site. Hope that
made sense.
