Feature requests » AutoAdd: send message back to other side

added on May 12, 2009 by jim
How about a short message (set it to something like 60 characters or less) that you can send back to the other AutoAdd
side. It displays on the AutoAdd list, or maybe you can make it a general message for all things and display it with
each database entry. You could say "thank you" or "I add everyone to the front page for a while",
"please come by and post to my blog, it's open and free for webmasters to post a blurb about their site". The
messages go both ways of course.

I don't get why some people insist on a link on the front page, no one is going to put 100's of links to other sites on
their front page, the idea here is to trick the search engines into thinking your site is more popular than it is, we
are tricking a stupid BOT. The only sites I have seen that will put you on the front page are lame and have no real
content anyway. If the bot is really smart, then this whole thing doesn't work.

The 3rd party thing is just another tricking of stupid bots, as they get smarter that won't work either, but we are
talking years from now.

Hi,

excellent idea, I can even add it on the normal link form, so people can leave messages for each other when adding
links!

I guess people insist their links are on the frontpage, so the know that the link is visible, and not hidden on some
page that is not being linked to, so the robots will never find it.

I have seen cases where people make like a http://www.domain.com/linkpartners.php
where the links are added to, but they don't link to linkpartners.php from anywhere, so robots are not very likely to
find the backlink.

A requirement that the link has to be in a place that search engines can find it should be standard, I don't know what
you want to do about that but the whole point of this is to raise your page rank (hopefully). It's really no skin off my
ass to put the links on a separate page that I have set up to get hit by google etc. but no one in their right mind
would send their visitors to competitors web sites right on the front page, screw that!
