Announcements » Whats missing in LinkEX

added on Oct 5, 2006 by v0id
Hey webmasters.

I'd like to know what's missing in LinkEX? What is holding LinkEX back from being even bigger and the script to use?

Please discuss, since I'll be doing some rewriting of the core soon.

dont allow sites that have PR# to signup!

maybe your site has a PR7 you dont
want a site with PR1 to signup!

so something to set the number of PR allowed to signup!

Would be nice if you see the amount of links in the top of the admin page.
Or even better:
a total number links, broken down into the total enabeld/disabeld links (for the ones using a cronjob to check their
links) and a total of the links with the pr rating.

Let me put down a example to make it absolutly clear what I mean ;-)

185 total links
100 ok / 5 disabled
30 pr 1
25 pr 2
50 pr 3
10 pr 4
15 pr 5

Hehe, I wonder what your pagerank would be with that amount of links.

A sorting by PR would be nice too.

Hi!

Already told you on ICQ but to have it in writing:
- mail templates. Something like:
---
Hi webmaster of [site url]

How are you today bladiebladiebla

Regards,

Webmaster [sitename]
---
2. if you press an mailadress let the script remeber witch one you clicked on. No you have to scroll to the right one.
3. On the add url page show the mailadres of the admin. (maybe with public yes/no option).

Thanks!

oh and i'd still like the option of using linkex for multiple domains at once.

For example now i have to add a blacklisted site 40 times because i have linkex placed on about 40 domains. And a
partner can add itself for more then one of my sites.

Got it. Thanks for putting it in writing :) Was going to write it here myself, but never got around doing so.

On the home page it would be nice to be able to select all the links at once. Currently you can select all links but
only from that one page. So if i want to verify all links at once i have to go through many pages..

I also would like to see a new "Category" collumn so that i can see in which category is each link placed.
Currently this is possible to see only if i "edit" each link.

Awesome. Thanks for the input, those are nice ideas!

Hi, first my compliments on this little beauty of a link script.. I love it (must be made by a dane ;)

I would love a feature where you could add severel Anchor text's and the script would choose a random one everytime one
signs up. In my experience it is of great SEO value to vary the anchor text on your inbound links.

I cant figure out what {CYCLE values=\"..\"} is ment for? Something to do with my request??
Thx

Hi there. Greetings from Denmark! :)

Actually I have just made that feature in the new version I'm working on. I've also read multiple places that the anchor
should be varied, so this is going to be possible in the next version.

The {CYCLE} to a function to alternate between values when looping through the links;
When generating the output file, the script loops through the list of links in the current category, and will inside the
loop show the values from the {CYCLE}.

To give you an example template:
<span class="{CYCLE values="lowlight,highlight"}"><a
href="{$URL}">{$ANCHOR}</a></span>

Will result in:
<span class="lowlight"><a href="...">...</a></span>
<span class="highlight"><a href="...">...</a></span>
<span class="lowlight"><a href="...">...</a></span>
<span class="highlight"><a href="...">...</a></span>

Does it make sense? :)

Yep, that makes sense :)
Looking forward to the new version - seems like you thought of everything.
Great work !! Thx.

LOL well it seems I didn't think of reading my post after posting it, all the code is gone..
added on Nov 15, 2006 by Another great dane..
I got the code on mail - posting it here for others who might need it. Replace "(" with "<" and
")" with ">":

(span class="{CYCLE values="lowlight,highlight"}")(a href="{$URL}"){$ANCHOR}(/a)(/span)

Will result in:
(span class="lowlight")(a href="...")...(/a)(/span)
(span class="highlight")(a href="...")...(/a)(/span)
(span class="lowlight")(a href="...")...(/a)(/span)
(span class="highlight")(a href="...")...(/a)(/span)

hey v0id i dotn know if its been fixed yet, but urls and link text arent checked properly

you can put the domain of the linkx script as in the "Link URL:"
field, which bypasses the check for recip link

you can do this 50 times in a minute, effectivly ruining someones page

for example, if im filling out the form on linkex.dk i can put linkex.dk as the linkurl and it will accept it

this opens the script up to lamness

Im sure it doesnt happen often, but it can and might as well fix it

Hi there.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't think it has been fixed, but it sure will be.

Someting very imortant is the search box, because when you have a couple links you can't find the link to your website.
added on Mar 4, 2007 by Jamo
Hi Brenda!

In the admin, do you see "+Search/filter" above your links?

Hi Jamo,
i am tolking about search in the page were is located the include (that page show th links to the public no the admin
panel)
added on Mar 5, 2007 by Jamo
Hey Brenda,

Ok i now see what you mean.
Why not just use an external search script to search within your website?
The output of linkex is included so the search has to find those links also.

I'd like to see a facilty to mark ABC trades and help keep track of them so that they don't accidentally delete them
when we are cleaning up old links.
added on Mar 9, 2007 by madbo
It would be nice if linkex has categorie feed so the new visitors could see the link directory. How many links are
submited and ect.I think that would be nice, for the people that submit their links to my site as well, because now google
yahoo ca not find my link pages.
added on Mar 10, 2007 by Brenda
Yes i wish to have exactly what madbo said with search link in the directory because google yahoo ca not find the link
pages in my site and the people can't find their links (I CAN but in the admin panel).

added on Mar 10, 2007 by madbo
It would be nice as well if we could create a sub categories.Because now I have about 50 in my list but it takes users
long time to find the exact categorie for their sites.Maybe would be better if we could create sub categories.
